Creativity Captured

With my lateral thinking brain I love to receive a brief and flip it on it’s head from an alternate angle that not only covers the brief, but exceeds expectations as well as being visually pleasing. I’m the one in the meeting saying, “Oh! What about this?" and frantically sketching out the contents of my brain for the team to share. Being well-organised and fast thinking helps me juggle multiple jobs, tight schedules. I really enjoy contributing ideas with a team and I am also extremely self-motivated and able to work independently.

Working for you!

Honest, reliable and hard working with an excellent work ethic, I have excellent skills in typography and layout and well as re-touching and designing for countless platforms. As an experienced communicator including speaking to large groups and working directly with the client from the initial brief right through to digital or print output I look forward to meeting you to learn more about the company and how I can be a great asset.

My 9 Steps to Logo Creation

  1. Gather all information and resources required. Learn about the company, what they do, their primary objective, who their target demographic is, style preferences, colours they prefer if any. Photograph any references or sketches the client might have.
  2. Brainstorm a few ideas off the top of my head without influence.
  3. Research any relevant information and search similar businesses to ensure we are super-ceding the competition. I might search ‘lava lamps’ and anything related like ’70’s style’. A shape, colour, layout or typographical feature can inspire or enrich the design even if someone observing the same elements can’t identify where they came from.
  4. Sketch a few ideas including typography and then decide which direction to go in.
  5. Refine the sketch and use interactive stylus pen to transfer the drawing onto the computer fine-tuning the lines in Adobe Illustrator. Add colour where appropriate, or it might be purely hand-drawn or painted.
  6. Choose a suitable font that has the right style depending on how creative or conservative the brand is etc. It also needs to be legible when reduced for a business card, lanyard, or personalised merchandise.
  7. I might then transfer the document to Adobe Photoshop to add shadows, highlights, effects, textures, or to try alternative colour combinations etc.
  8. Once the client is happy I can apply it to printed materials eg business card, letterheads etc. Digitally I can create animated gifs or motion graphics featuring the logo which are great to capture attention for website or social media advertising.
  9. Brand guidelines can be supplied to ensure consistency of us and that the logo and logotype is showing to its full strength. This includes Pantone, CMYK or Hex colour breakdowns.

Brand Consistency is VITAL

Imagine if every time your name was written it was spelt a different way. Nobody would know if it was the same person! The same is true with your Brand Identity and Consistency. I’ve seen companies vary their use of a trademark symbol, colours, fonts and even their entire logo eg using old stock with a past logo while also implementing their new logo! Your audience needs to know it’s you and what you stand for. That way they’ll know they can rely on you, what you will provide for them and how you’ll go about it. They’ll have an expected experience in mind based on the look and feel or ‘treatment’ of your branding and the overall information you provide to portray that.
